Engraver

An engraver personalizes jewelry by engraving an icon or text. Jewelry engraving can be done in two ways: hand engraving and machine engraving.

Hand engraving

The manual engraving of jewelry is called hand engraving. This is a technique in which we hand engrave texts and logos/symbols with an engraving cutter. This is usually done in objects made of precious metal. When engraving by hand, the engraver first draws a text (or image) on the piece of jewelry. Then the metal is cut away with the sampler, so to speak, creating the engraving. This sampler consists of a hardened piece of steel and is ground into a particular shape. A hand engraving adds an authentic, traditional look to a piece of jewelry. An additional advantage is that almost anything is possible with a hand engraving, such as: various styles of signatures, fonts, coats of arms and so on. A hand engraving is deeper and for this reason remains beautiful longer.

Machine engraving

Machine engraving of jewelry is a technique that uses a traditional engraving machine to engrave texts and images. This can be done in almost any type of material. In machine engraving, we use a diamond stylus in combination with traditional pantograph engraving machine. The pantograph allows us to duplicate certain templates in a particular piece of jewelry. The diamond then engraves the template reduced in size into the object. The stylus pushes the material aside, so to speak, creating a tight diamond engraving. To engrave text into jewelry, we use templates of standardized fonts such as block letters, ornamental letters and slanted letters.

When is engraving the most beautiful option?

The best results are achieved with engravings in solid jewelry. In hollow items there is a risk of indentation.

What jewelry can you have engraved?

Briefly, you can have the following jewelry engraved:

  • Engraving plates
  • (Baby) plate bracelets
  • Friendship rings (inside and outside)
  • Wedding rings (inside and outside)
  • Watches

We also engrave convex jewelry such as lockets and pendants by hand upon request. The only risk is that the jewelry may dent.
